                           MARCHING  THROUGH  GEORGIA

While activists at the UCS, the AAAS  and the ACU have joined forces, the wannabe General Shermans spearheading the Scientists March On DC  have drawn fire  from  The New York Times, where a geopgysicist opines:

A Scientists’ March on Washington Is a
 Bad Idea
"Talk is growing about a March for Science on Washington, similar to the Women’s March the day after President Trump’s inauguration. It is a terrible idea.
Among scientists, understandably, there is growing fear that fact-based decision making is losing its seat at the policy-making table. There’s also overwhelming frustration with the politicization of science by climate change skeptics and others who see it as threatening to their interests or beliefs.
But trying to recreate the pointedly political Women’s March will serve only to reinforce the narrative from skeptical conservatives that scientists are an interest group and politicize their data, research and findings for their own ends.
I am a coastal geologist. I direct a center where our mission is to conduct scientific research and then communicate that science to elected officials, regulators, even private entities and the public. There is no question that the proposed March for Science will make my job more difficult and increase polarization...
What I learned was that ...Rather than marching on Washington and in other locations around the country, I suggest that my fellow scientists march into local civic groups, churches, schools, county fairs and, privately, into the offices of elected officials. Make contact with that part of America that doesn’t know any scientists. Put a face on the debate. Help them understand what we do, and how we do it. Give them your email, or better yet, your phone number.
Al Gore, bless his heart (as we say in the South), was well intentioned when he made “An Inconvenient Truth” in 2006. But he did us no favors. So many of the conservative Southerners whom I speak to about climate change see it as a partisan issue largely because of that high-profile salvo fired by the former vice president...
Believe me, I understand the desire to impart to everyone how important science is to every sector of our economy, the health of our planet and the future of our families. But I don’t see how a march accomplishes any of that. If tens of thousands of us show up, it will simply increase the size of the echo chamber."

MULVANEY SEES 'TREMENDOUS OPPORTUNITY FOR SAVINGS'
IN  TRAFFICKING  IN  PIECES OF  DEAD  SCIENCE

The New York Times,  reports that President Trump's Director of Management and the Budget,  former Congressman Mike  Mulvaney  took "a hard line on spending during President Obama’s term, vowing not to raise the nation’s debt limit and embracing the term 'Shutdown Caucus' because of his willingness to shut the government down instead."[25]

Mulvaney cited its funding of Planned Parenthood  when he voted against a government-funding resolution, which would have prevented a government shutdown,.[27] Explaining his vote, Mulvaney said, "This is not about women's health. It’s about trafficking in pieces of dead children."[27]

The Director's  characterization of  such scientific investments as GoreSat, "as a waste of your money." naturally  opens the door to their sale as Government surplus, so perhaps the former next President should bid on  his namesake, with a view to donating it to fellow enthusiasts at The Planetry Society, which might continue its operation on an amateur basis. It should be well within Al's P-R budget, as I can rememeber when Titan IIc rocket engines surplus to Cold War ICBM needs, were a drug on the market  at .2% of their government cost- I donated one to Boston's Museum of Contemporary art.

CAPE  WIND  GETS  OFF  TO  ROARING   STOP

A RHODE ISLAND  RADIO STATION REPORTS:
A ten story  wind turbine at Salty Brine State Beach in Narragansett collapsed during Tuesday's nor'easter
With winds reaching more than 50 miles an hour in Narragansett, the 100-foot lattice tower buckled over from the dangerous gusts.
Pictures from the scene showed the turbine's tower folded over on itself and the turbine's blades sitting in the snow.
The wind turbine in Galilee generates enough electricity to power the beach's new bathhouse. It was remodeled in 2010, with the project costing nearly $2,000,000 .
Adresssing the fallen turbine,  Gov. Gina Raimondo Tuesday  said it'll be a priority repair for the state once the storm passes.
"Nobody has been hurt,” said Raimondo. “It's a wind turbine that's owned by the state, owned by DEM. And when the storm's over, we'll get it fixed."

JUMPING  THE  SHARKNADO : WILL  GEOSTORM
RAIN   CHEESE  ON  THE   2018  OSCARS ?

"Something to really look forward to. It will come out in October. Maybe we can dedicate a session ad CEC17 to it!

Disaster Thriller Geostorm

Will Have the Most Terrifying

 Climate Change Ever

From  Gizmodo: " Forget the car-sized hail.  It  looks  like it  might actually  start raining cheese  in the climate-controlled near-future of Geostorm.
Set during a time when a network of satellites help stave off extinction-level natural disasters, Geostorm shows what happens when that technology malfunctions.
It’s going to be a disaster flick centered on mankind enduring the worst weather ever, all because we were foolish enough to think we could play Thor.
Geostorm will star Gerard Butler and Ed Harris and is directed by Dean Devlin, the writer/producer behind Independence Day. It’s due out in October.
We're Doomed."
APPARENTLY,  SO IS THE MOVIE:
Geostorm  is a remake of

DAS ARCHE NOAH PRINZIP  (THE NOAH'S ARK PRINCIPLE)

which began life as  master of disaster  Roland Emmerich's  Doctoral Thesis. After watching Star Wars, the  University of Television and Film Munich student debuted his  final thesis at the 34th Berlin International Film Festival in 1984.
Re-released on DVD in 2002, it won 2 1/2  Rotten Tomatoes.

                                 The Ambassadeur's  New  Gloves

"We will march for what we love, the thrill of discovery, the joy of understanding, and the benefits for all."

That pretty much limits the march to the Spring outing route Theodore Roosevelt imposed on Washington guests he thought in need of vigorous exercise.

Arriving at a designated spot in Rocky Creeek Park, they were exhorted to proceed two miles in a dead sraight line , climbing up, over, and across every obstacle, boulder and fallen tree to  the Potomac, where a Secret Service boat would collect   their clothes  so they could would swim to the islet in midstream where a picnic lunch awaited them.

This appealed to the persidential sense of humor,  for while hisold  friends knew they should wear their stoutest clothing, new invitees often  appeared in formal gear.

Such was the case  when the new  French ambassador appeared, but he gamely followed TR across the rocky terrane , loosing his silk top hat and splitting his frogged coat an the process of getting to the river bank, where he found the Presedent and the rest of the party in the process of stripping naked to swim the river.

The ambassador , being the doyen of the Washington diplomatic corps, naturally followed his host's example, but as he prepared to enter the water , TR noticed the otherwise naked Frenchman,  still had his gloves on.

" Monsieur Ambassadeur, " TR said with surprise,  I see  you are still wearing violet kidd gloves!"

" But of course, Monsieur President!
What if we should meet the ladies ?"

WHO NEEDS  CLIMATE SCIENCE WHEN YOU'VE GOT EXPERTS
ON  TWERKING,  VIRTUE SIGNALLING & GRAND THEFT AUTO

The  Amazing  Delingpole Who Is Always Right,  because Breitbart instantly removes  comments questioning his infallibility , tells his readers that  President Trump faces a terrible dilemma :

"...Should he:
a) follow the example of his predecessors — the Bushes, Clinton, and Obama — and take the dumb, cowardly, economically damaging, scientifically illiterate and totally wrong decision?or
b) stay true to his campaign promises and do the right thing by America, by honest science, and by the whole world?
Personally, I would have thought it was a no-brainer.  But not, apparently. The New York Times is urging President Trump to ignore the facts and the evidence, and instead listen to the siren voices of his daughter Ivanka, his Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and the various assorted members of the Climate Industrial Complex who...  want him to keep the U.S. stuck in the disastrous and ill-advised United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
At least George H.W. Bush, who nodded through the deal at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, had the excuse that he was going with the flow of the popular mood and acting in accordance with the known science of the time.
But that was 25 years ago, ... and no one had ever heard of twerking, virtue-signalling, Grand Theft Auto, Breaking Bad, the Second Gulf War, Islamic State or Amy Schumer’s comedy vagina —...since when...One of the big things that has changed... is that anyone who has done any background reading on the subject now knows that it is based on a pack of lies, junk science and barely concealed left-wing political activism.
The distinguished physicist Dr. Richard Lindzen recently set out the case well in an open letter to the president, signed by more than 300 eminent scientists and other qualified individuals:
