In the wake of Secretary Pompeo's magnificent speech in praise of Arctic sea ice retreat, the patriotic Gnomes of Nome stand ready to float a bond issue for the long overdue North Panama Canal.
At the Rovaniemi Finland Arctic Forum Mr Pompeo said:
"Steady reductions in sea ice are opening new passageways and new opportunities for trade. This could potentially slash the time it takes to travel between Asia and the West by as much as 20 days.

At the Rovaniemi Finland Arctic Forum Mr Pompeo said:

He also attacked what he called "aggressive behaviour" by China and Russia in the Arctic region.
