EPA BANS PLASTIC EASTER EGGS TO CUT OCEAN POLLUTION

As we celebrate Earth Day, I want to take a moment to thank each of you for your hard work and dedication to protecting public health and the environment. Our Nation is blessed with magnificent land and waterways, abundant natural resources, and unique wildlife. I know that each and every one of us is committed to ensuring that all Americans can continue to enjoy and benefit from these natural gifts for generations to come.
This Earth Day, I will be joining DC Water and Japan’s Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Sugiyama, out on the Anacostia River highlighting one of the top environmental challenges facing the world today—marine litter.
Increasing recycling and reducing marine litter is just one of the many ways that EPA is working to address a host of water issues both domestically and internationally. From providing access to clean and safe drinking water, to cleaning up rivers and waterways, to improving water infrastructure, we are elevating our efforts to address these important issues.
Today, and throughout the rest of the week, EPA senior leadership and staff will be participating in events to highlight our work to address water issues, celebrate our accomplishments, and serve our communities.

De Blasio to Skyscrapers:
Drop Dead!
NOW WITH SPIRAL TESLA RAMP FOR GREEN HANDICAPPED ACCESS
“We’re going to ban the classic glass and steel skyscrapers" said the mayor of New York City...

De Blasio was asked on Morning Joe by co-host Joe Scarborough how New York's "Green New Deal" can "provide a road map" for members of Congress looking to implement policies that will fight climate change. Congressional efforts—led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D–N.Y.) and others—to pass a Green New Deal made headlines in February, though the measure failed in the Senate last month by a 57–0 vote.

"We're actually making the Green New Deal come alive here in New York City," de Blasio told Scarborough. "This mandate is going to ensure that we reduce emissions. We're going to ban the classic glass and steel skyscrapers which are incredibly inefficient," de Blasio said.

About 50,000 buildings will be affected, CNBC reported. "To get down to even 20 percent from where I am today, with the technology that exists, there's nothing more that I can do. It's not like there's this magic wand."

Nolte: ‘Scientific Response’ to My Global Warming Op-Ed Is Really Stupid

JOHN NOLTE

Earlier this month I wrote an op-ed about how a new scientific discovery proves that the idea of man-made Global Warming is a hoax. This week a bunch of scientists gang-tackled my op-ed, and let’s just say the response wasn’t all that impressive...

“The new research shows that a past high CO2 period had lots of global warming, just like we expect from today’s human-driven CO2 changes,” writes Mark Richardson, a researcher at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. “Breitbart’s argument is that since CO2 changed naturally before, we can’t change it now.”
“This is like saying that fires happened naturally before so there is no way any of us could cause a fire. It’s wrong.” he adds.
“By the reasoning of this article, if a rock rolled down a hill three million years ago, no human can be responsible for rolling a rock down a hill today,” climatologist Kim Caldeira said.
There is no way of telling if this is a deliberate attempt to miss my point, but miss my point they did, all of them, and this entire attack is premised on missing my point…
Before Arnold Schwarzenegger was tooling around in a Hummer, before the Orange Bad Man yanked us out of Barry’s stupid treaties, this planet warmed all on its own, and did so more than once, but this time — this particular time — it’s not one of those natural cycles. And those are just the Big Things the scientific consensus epic failed on. You guys also told me  coffeesaltfat, and eggs were poison.
So, no, I have never accepted the premise that Global Warming is happening and if it is I sure as hell don’t believe it’s man-made, and now that I know this billions-year-old blue marble we all share has warmed all on its own, and done so more than once without so much as a single NASCAR race, I’m even less convinced.

PRESS RELEASE: ANTHONY WATTS JOINS THE HEARTLAND INSTITUTE

APRIL 5, 2019

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL (April 4, 2019) – Anthony Watts, a TV and radio meteorologist for more than 40 years and founder of the award-winning climate website Watts Up With That, has joined The Heartland Institute today as senior fellow for environment and climate.
“The people at Heartland are working from a reality-based viewpoint of the climate issue saying in effect, ‘Hey wait a minute, look at this,’ to the people that would follow the path of climate alarmism hook, line, and sinker,” Watts said. “Despite having a tiny fraction of the budget and social media outreach some green organizations have, they have done a fantastic job of countering climate alarmism.
“Laughably, my critics have said for years that I have been ‘on the payroll’ of Heartland in some ‘nefarious capacity,’ even though I’ve never been on their payroll. I figure I might as well give these folks something factual to talk about now instead of just innuendo and smear campaigns,” Watts said.
“I credit the efforts of Heartland in President Trump’s decision to exit from the Paris Climate Accord,” Watts added. “What reality-based climate skeptic wouldn’t want to be on that winning team?
The Heartland Institute is known globally as a leading think tank promoting scientific research showing that human activity is not causing a climate crisis. The latest volume of research, published this month, can be found at ClimateChangeReconsidered.org.

Watts has spoken at eight of Heartland’s 12 International Conferences on Climate Change, including the 2015 conference when he received the Excellence in Climate Science Communication Awardfrom the International Climate Science Coalition.

Role of flying cars in sustainable mobility

Akshat Kasliwal,  Noah J. Furbush,  James H. Gawron,  James R. McBride,  Timothy J. Wallington,  Robert D. De Kleine,  Hyung Chul Kim &  Gregory A. Keoleian
ABSTRACT
Interest and investment in electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (VTOLs), commonly known as flying cars, have grown significantly. However, their sustainability implications are unclear.
We report a physics-based analysis of primary energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of VTOLs vs. ground-based cars. Tilt-rotor/duct/wing VTOLs are efficient when cruising but consume substantial energy for takeoff and climb; hence, their burdens depend critically on trip distance.

For our base case, traveling 100 km (point-to-point) with one pilot in a VTOL results in well-to-wing/wheel GHG emissions that are 35% lower but 28% higher than a one-occupant internal combustion engine vehicle (ICEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV), respectively. Comparing fully loaded VTOLs (three passengers) with ground-based cars with an average occupancy of 1.54, VTOL GHG emissions per passenger-kilometer are 52% lower than ICEVs and 6% lower than BEVs. VTOLs offer fast, predictable transportation and could have a niche role in sustainable mobility.

New food standards aim to improve human well-being, and the planet’s

Elizabeth Gehrman

The University is embarking on an ambitious new plan aimed at empowering people to upgrade their eating habits..." and also get back on track to stay within the planetary boundaries that have been identified by work in the earth sciences,”[ Chan School Professor] Willett said.

The Harvard food standards... will measurably increase access to healthy, culturally appropriate foods for students, faculty, staff, and visitors while also enhancing food literacy and lessening the University’s impact on land, air, and water. The standards were also informed by Menus of Change principles...

“Harvard is a thought leader and an action leader,” said Willett. “... The Office for Sustainability’s Living Lab initiative is designed to immerse students in such interventions, ...“We’re not setting minimum standards and then stopping there,” said [sustainability manager] Havelick. “...red meat consumption, for example, is down 40 percent ...“We have to have some hope here or we will have a disaster,” said Willett.

HOW MANY COTTONWOODS EQUAL A COW ?

Andy Revkin reports trees may emit as much methane as tundra
A study by Covey & Megonigal indicates individual trees can emit on the order of a gram of methane per hour, or about 1/10th as much CH4as a cow, but does not directly compare the global flux from forests and cattle.
That omission must come as a relief to UN carbon offset officials running the Trillion Tree Campaign, as a Yale study suggests Earth's three trillion trees already outnumber its cattle 3,000 to 1.

LAST YEAR'S SURVIVORS REMAIN LOCKED IN THE ROOM

MIT Climate Summit Simulation
MIT Environmental Solutions Initiative
What if the UN locked global stakeholders in a room until they agreed on a climate plan that would actually work? What would the CEO of Exxon, Xi Jinping, Angela Merkel, the Chair of Ford, the head of Greenpeace, Donald Trump, and the Alliance of Rainforest Nations come up with?

Would their plan limit warming to less than two degrees C in the newest MIT simulation, En-ROADS, used by top decision-makers in the US government, HSBC, and the United Nations, which runs 38,000 equations in a tenth of a second? Participants play roles and embrace the drama.

Research scientists have uncovered hidden diversity within a type of frog found only in the Seychelles, showing that those on each island have their own distinct lineage.
They are living ancestors of those frogs that survived the meteor strike on earth approximately 66 million years ago, making them a highly evolutionarily distinct group.

Although tiny, the sound they emit can be around 100 decibels, equivalent to the sound volume of a power lawnmower'.
Dr Labisko said: 'Amphibians play a vital role in the ecosystem as predators, munching on invertebrates like mites and mosquitos, so they contribute to keeping diseases like malaria and dengue in check...  Dr Labisko and his colleagues are carrying out intensive monitoring to assess the level of risk from climate change, making a local impact in the Seychelles.

                               A HARD ACT TO FOLLOW

The full Delingpole: why I stripped naked and posted the video online

Naked Brexit protester Dr Victoria Bateman on the Today programme last week
Naked Brexit protester Dr Victoria Bateman on the Today programme last week
It was a bright Sunday afternoon and I was harmlessly at my desk, minding my own business, when from the other end of the house I heard the screech of a thousand cats being boiled alive in oil. ‘Why did he do it? WHY??’ a female teenage voice wailed, half plaintive, half accusing, all righteous fury. It was my daughter’s — and evidently I’d been rumbled.
So why exactly had the poor girl’s embarrassing father chosen to film a naked video of himself and then post it up on YouTube for the entire world to see? Well the main one, fairly obviously, was as a satirical response to Victoria Bateman, the Cambridge professor who has been protesting against Brexit over the past few weeks by using the novel method of getting her kit off on TV and the internet.
Like Dr Bateman, I scrawled BREXIT in black ink across my chest. Unlike her, I did leave at least a teeny bit to the imagination: I covered my wedding tackle with an enormous dangling sock. Partly this was for puerile comedic purposes; partly to avoid being censored; but mainly because filming outdoors in February is not conducive to the most flattering portrait of a chap’s rude bits.

AND NOW A WORD FROM OUR SHIRTMAKER

ΑΓΑΠΗΣΕΙΣ
The Lord Monckton Foundation stands as the wall of the West, the redoubt of reason, the sentinel of science, the fortress of freedom, and the defender of democracy. By this Charter, the Governing Council is directed to obtain and to deploy...

The Scientific Method, first adumbrated in the early Middle Ages as a moral as well as a rational discipline by the Iraqi mathematician Abu Ali Ibn Al-Haytham... attained its apotheosis in the minds of Newton ... and of Popper
Is science dead?
Must reason fail?
Shall objectivity be slaughtered again on the pagan altar of mere ideology?
Is life now objectionable, liberty deplorable, the pursuit of happiness a crime?
Has the nation had its day?
Is the globalization of governance really a public good?
Can democracy survive it?
Should not the use of the ballot-box be extended?
Should not every supranational and global institution of governance be elected?

The Foundation exists to illuminate questions such as these, and to inspire devotion to the cause of Western civilization, true reason, sound science, universal liberty and worldwide democracy in the hearts of all men of goodwill.
Let freedom ring!

APPROACHING PEAK GODWIN WITH TIM & TOM

Carbon Dioxide Only Causes Climate Change in UN IPCC Climate Models
Today’s climate change is well within the range of natural climate variability... A small group fooled the world into believing that warming is bad ... It is the biggest lie ever told, and that reason alone caused many to believe...
the benign gas is not causing temperature rise. Indeed, it cannot cause global warming or climate change. The only place where a CO2 increase causes a temperature increase is in the computer models promoted by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). This is the main reason why the model predictions are always wrong...
Here are the original definition and objective of the big lie, quoting from Adolf Hitler's  Minister of PropagandaJoseph Goebbels:
If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually....

                                               WALRUSGATE

Delingpole:

Walrusgate – Attenborough Fake News ‘Tragedy Porn’

JAMES DELINGPOLE

Sir David Attenborough, doyen of wildlife TV, has been accused of manufacturing ‘tragedy porn’ after misrepresenting footage of walruses plunging to their deaths over a cliff on his Netflix latest nature series Our Planet.

The show’s footage of ‘desperate’ walruses clinging to the cliff top before tumbling hundreds of feet onto the rocks below attracted widespread publicity . The Times of London ran it with the dramatic headline: “David Attenborough’s Our Planet: Walruses plunging to deaths become new symbol of climate change.”
The more likely explanation is that the walruses were driven to their deaths by polar bears — which herded them over the cliff and then feasted on the bodies afterwards.
According to polar bear expert Susan Crockford:
In 2017, a group of about 20 polar bears, waiting for ice to form so that they could leave the village of Ryrkaypiy, stalked a herd of 5,000 or so walruses. The particular conformation of the region at Kozhevnikova Cape shows how frightened walrus could easily move from the beach  to the top of the cliff along a gentle slope, and then be driven over the edge by fear or misstep. The bears were then able to feed off the many carcasses after the survivors took to the water.
According to Andrew Montford in the Spectator, the Our Planet footage was almost certainly shot in this region at this time:
