That Feeling When nuclear war may be the only way to stop human extinction.

The global economy is hurtling humanity toward extinction... according to New York Magazine... Nations have already detonated 2,476 nuclear devices.

An exchange that shuts down the global economy but stops short of human extinction may be the only blade realistically likely to cut the carbon knot we’re trapped within. It would decimate existing infrastructures, providing an opportunity to build new energy infrastructure and intervene in the current investments and subsidies keeping fossil fuels alive.

This is the most troubling and misinformed article I’ve read for a long time.

Nuclear war could well actually make things worse after a nuclear winter for the climate; and would come at a much greater cost.
Was this meant to provoke the reader into realising that climate action is of course wider than nuclear war? Or is it wallowing in Hamilton-esque nihilism and misanthropy?

Samuel... Go read Carl Sagan. Read Kate Raworth. Read Paul Hawken. Heck, read Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. Anne Frank. Shakespeare! Read Lao Tze. Read the Buddha.

Read all of them. Then write some more.
