CARAMBA, THAT'S A LOT OF LITHIUM BATTERIES
The Andean nation has started production of a rather more respectable white powder : lithium carbonate from a giant plant at the south end of the sky-high Salar Uyuni which, witness the EOSAT inset, spans more than 10,000 square kilometers- large enough to sustain a substantial fraction of global lithium production from its concentrated brines for the rest of the century.
