While real pandas have just been taken off the endangered species list, China's Panda Green Energy, formerly United Photovoltaics Group Limited has used fifty megawatts worth of black monocrystalline silicon and lighter amorphous thin film cells to create one I hope is the last of its kind- a piece of earth art only a coal baron might love. The albedo footprint of the supersized creature, subsidized by the United Nations Development Fund, spans about 100 hectares of former bamboo shoot country, so no wonder it looks hungry.
